I put this rack system on myself in 15 or 20 minutes or so. Great directions- simple- nicely marked which is front, back, face the front etc. They cover the opening nicely. Really attractive!!!
great price, fast shipping and a great look. same as oem but quarter the price. fit was exact and simple to install. biggest thing was cleaning the existing studs. so simple you don't need instructions only clean studs. will definitely used ASG again and recommend them to everyone.
I was able to put these racks on by myself along with a step ladder. I did not have any problems fitting the racks together. All of the parts went together very easily. I was very impressed how easy it was to install. I highly recommend them. The quality and price was excellent. The dealership wanted over $300.00 and these were less than $89.00. Quick shipping too!
I installed the cross bars on a 2011 CR-V this weekend. I'm not giving them 5 stars for a few reasons. First, I find it hard to believe that they haven't rewritten the instructions yet. There is still no mention of the 8 Phillips head screws that secure the bars to the mounting brackets. Mike's March 2016 review really helped, although I used a slightly different process. I too installed all 8 screws and left them slightly loose but instead of removing the bars to tighten the screws after test-fitting the brackets on the studs, I torqued the special nuts to spec and then used a right-angle Phillip's screw driver to snug up the screws right on the vehicle. This gave me the assurance that all parts were seated exactly where they wanted to be. Another issue that prevents the product from getting 5 Stars is the machining quality of the special mounting nuts. Half of the 8 nuts had fragments of metal inside the nuts from when they were tapped. I'll called them 'threads' of metal that I removed with my air hose, except for the one that required tweezers to remove the twisted thread of material. If these fragments were not cleaned out, there was a risk of them damaging the threads of the special nuts or studs during installation. As far as cleaning the paint of off the vehicle's mounting studs, I agree completely that it should be done, but I think that stopping every 90 is a bit excessive. I was able to turn the special nuts 2-3 full revolutions before I felt a need to blow off the stud and the nuts. Finally, getting the bracket covers to fit fully inside the rubber ****** on the brackets is next to impossible. I opted to ensure that the fronts and sides were fully seated inside the track and left the back of the cover on the outside of the rubber ******. Any 'weather' will just run down the back of the cover and onto roof. As long as the front of the cover is sealed against the weather while driving, I'm satisfied. I can not speak to the load carrying ability of the cross bars. These bars were installed for looks, not use. (I have other vehicles better suited for hauling stuff.) These bars work perfectly for their intended purpose: To make the CR-V look just a little more 'beefy'. The price is right, the packing was great and the shipping was prompt. Update the instructions and they'll be worth 5 stars.
Received in a few days and lined up perfectly. Seem strong. The only reason it didn't get a 5 is because the metal rail guides on the CRV were close to the mounting bolts so I had to 'modify the mounting plates to fit (knocked off one side of the inner guide molding). Once I did this, it fit perfectly. Have not loaded anything on it yet.
I have been wanting a roof rack for quite a while. Honda was way over priced, $400 installed and I was not willing to spend that much. Ordered from ASG, received them in a few days. Very happy! Super easy to install and look great!
